The Learning Resources Center (LRC) is a tutoring service created for Lusher Middle and High Schools with the goal of improving student achievement and boosting test scores. The LRC provides a valuable educational resource by offering free tutoring sessions in every major subject area.
The LRC is housed in room 320 on the high school side of the Freret campus. Tulane University provides the tutors who join forces with Lusher faculty and students to create an interactive learning experience with one-on-one assistance and instruction. View the tutor schedule above to see which subjects are supported on which days.
The LRC opens in room 320 immediately after school on Mondays/Tuesdays/Thursdays from 3:35-5PM and Wednesdays from 2:45-4:15. The LRC is closed on Fridays. Please note that the LRC is a separate program from After Care. The LRC offers free academic assistance, but it is not intended for supervision of students waiting for transportation.
No advance sign up is required. Students may simply show up! When feasible, it is recommended that students plan ahead by viewing the tutor schedule above and trying to show up on a day when multiple tutors are available for the subject in which help is needed. Tutors are paired with students on a first-come-first-served basis.
State Legislation: LA SB 28 – This new law requires each public school, including charters, to promote and provide information to students and parents on how to access the after-school online homework assistance services offered by the State Library of Louisiana. This information will need to be included in school handbooks, as well as on school websites. (http:// homeworkla.org/)
