All school volunteers must follow two legally mandated requirements to ensure the safety of our students. Each volunteer must meet BOTH of these requirements–submitting a Criminal Background Check filed in the parish in which the volunteer resides AND completing a brief online Mandated Reporter training course and quiz– to volunteer in the classroom, on a field trip, at an event, etc. Organizers of field trips and events should remind volunteers of these requirements when requesting volunteers.
Feel free to print your certificate for your records (no need to submit this form to Lusher, as we have access to the online records).
Volunteers may secure a background check by going to the NOPD office at 715 S. Broad St., first floor (for those living in Orleans Parish; volunteers must secure a background check from the parish in which they live). Orleans Parish checks require a valid license and $5.00. The cost varies by parish. The form is available here. If there’s time, you may opt to mail it in and ask to have it mailed to Lusher -7315 Willow St., NOLA 70118.
EVERY Lusher volunteer must have a current background check on file AND current training on Mandated Reporting. Please share this info with grandparents, babysitters–any adult who may wish to help out at a Lusher event.
