A.J. Allegra, Lusher’s middle and high school theatre teacher, was honored as one of nola.com’s “Best Actors in a Play” in its end-of-year review of New Orleans theatre. In his role in the NOLA Project’s production of Charles Ludlam’s “Camille,” A.J. Allegra “was key in transforming the show into something more than mere high camp.”
Mr. Allegra serves as the artistic director of the NOLA Project, which gained national recognition by receiving the National Theatre Company Award from the American Theatre Wing. A $10,000 check accompanied the honor.
