Lusher Senior and CA Visual Arts student Jacob Arroyo just finished painting a giant new mural on the side of Dat Dog’s Freret Street location.
From this WDSU article:
It’s the culmination of a contest that the restaurant organized for the students to submit original designs for a professional mural at the Freret Street location. One winner was selected through a public vote on Facebook.
The winner, Jacob Arroyo, completed his mural with the help of ninth-to 12th-grade students at Lusher. Arroyo said he’s been painting since he was 7.
Arroyo plans to attend Tulane University next year to pursue his passion for art and to create positive change in his community, the restaurant said.
The goal of his mural was to showcase the city’s diverse community and its authenticity.
